More about Oasis Heritage Restaurant

Oasis Heritage Restaurant was originally built in 1928 as a private residence of the Dutch millionaire, Mr. F. Brandenburg van Oltsende, owner of tea, rubber & cinchona plantations. The luxurious building is a well preserved example of Dutch colonial architecture, where teakwood beams span the high ceilings of the rooms and the checkered black & white tiles reflect the soft light of the crystal chandeliers. After the World War II, the building became the official residence of the United States Naval Attaché. The annual Marine Corps Balls were held in this beautiful house and garden.
In the Sumatra Room one can appreciate a collection of antique tapis, handwoven traditional textiles embroidered with gold thread from Lampung. In the same room, there's beautiful stained glass window depicting the coat of arms and image of Erasmus of Rotterdam (1466–1536). This iconic piece was designed by Robert Deppe, a Dutch architect, and executed by J.J.R. Engel in Batavia in 1936.
Other art objects worth noting include a massive Javanese gong dating back to the 18th century. This impressive piece originated from one of the royal palaces in Central Java, and is now showcased in our Foyer. The Kalimantan Room has masks and antique primitive statues from different areas around Kalimantan (Borneo).
The staircase leading to the second floor is adorned with a unique collection of primitive arts from West Papua. The Topeng Bar has a collection of masks and paintings by famous Indonesian artists. Our three elegantly decorated Private Dining Rooms, known as the Raja Rooms, are ideal places for private celebrations. In the rear of the house overlooking a serene garden, one can find The Java Room and Garden Terrace Room, each with its own unique personality and style.
In 1979, Oasis Restaurant introduced the Rijsttafel (Rice Table), a unique presentation of a variety of Indonesian food, served by a procession of twelve Indonesian waitresses. The Rijsttafel culinary cultural parade is an authentic gastronomic experience that one will not soon forget. Oasis Heritage Restaurant also serves a selection of popular European dishes that will satisfy even the most discerning guest. We look forward to welcoming you to Oasis Heritage Restaurant!
